CICL Championship Playoffs:

Date and Time: The final two rounds of the playoffs will be played on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Round 2 will begin promptly at 9 AM NO GRACE PERIOD. Round 3 is scheduled to start at 2 PM although this is subject to change.
Time Control: For these two rounds only, the time control will be 45/90, then G/60 (both with 5-second delay).
Location: North Shore Chess Center, 5500 W Touhy Ave Suite A Skokie, IL 60077
Directions: Most will come North on I-94, exit Touhy Ave (westbound) Exit 39A, and travel 1 mile. From the far West, take I-90 to I-294 North, to Touhy Ave (eastbound)

The site is in a business/industrial strip opposite the Village Cross Shopping Center in Skokie.
The entrance faces Touhy Ave, directly across the street from PetSmart. Park to the east of the chess center.
There is additional parking on the west side but should be used only if the east lot is full.

NO FOOD ALLOWED IN THIS PLAYING SITE. Beverages are available in vending machines, Dollar-bills and coins ONLY. So, no coffee or pastries will be provided by the CICL this year. For lunch, a number of fast food establishments are in the vicinity.
NO NEED to bring sets and clocks. BUT, team captains, please DO bring match result sheets and game scoresheets to insure against the CICL running out of them during the event.

2011 CICL Individual Tournament
Format: 3 round Swiss tournament, with multiple sections as needed.
ADDITIONALLY, since there is so much time between rounds one and two, an informal Speed Tournament will be held.
Time Control: G/60 with 5-second delay set
Time & Date: Arrive by 10:00am sharp on Saturday May 14.
Rounds expected to be at 10:15am, 02:30 pm and 4:45pm.

Entry Fee: none
Prizes: $30 for 1st place and $20 for 2nd place of each section. (But only for 1st place if the section has less than 7 players). All prizes are only in gift certificates or trophy (your choice).. If the value of a prize is less than $10 due to ties, cash only may be issued. Only members of the CICL are eligible for prizes..

Eligibility: This tourney is open to all CICL members, and also open to all potential, future CICL members. You must be 16 years of age or older to play in this tournament. USCF membership is not required.
NOTE!!! Only room for 32 players, more than that will be turned away ! PRE-REGISTER NOW!!
Ratings: Games are rated by the CICL for CICL members. Games add to CICL members' Centurion game count. Games are not rated by the USCF. Where reasonable, paring of unrated players will be avoided to hep them get ratings quicker.

Chess equipment: Please bring a chess set chess clock. and game scoresheets.

Directions to the 2011 CICL Individual Tournament at DGCC
DGCC meets in a complex of buildings called Fairview Village. It is off of Fairview Avenue in Downers Grove, between 63rd Street (aka Hobson) and 75th Street.
From the intersection of 63rd Street (aka Hobson) and Fairview Ave, drive south for about one-third of a mile. Or, from 75th Street and Fairview, drive about one mile north of 75th Street.
You will see an entrance to Fairview Village to the east. This road is Village Drive. There is a large sign labeled "Fairview Village".
Turn east on to Village Drive and drive about two tenths of a mile. You will see a five story building on your left. This is 200 Village Drive. The signs to this building call it the "Village Apartments".
Please be sure to park in Visitor's Parking, and not in Resident Parking.
Walk into 200 Village Drive (the Village Apartments) building. There is a reception desk where you can ask for directions to the club's meeting room.
The individual tournament will be held in the Sabel Studio room. The Sabel Studio room is located on the ground floor, which is one floor down from the reception floor. Turn right past the reception area, and elevators are on your right.
